On 8/3/16, at approximately 6:15 a.m., a female student reported an armed robbery near the Park-Stradley residence hall (120 W 11th Ave.). The victim reported that a male suspect approached her and demanded her wallet and cell phone. The suspect struck the female victim in the back of the head with the butt of his gun prior to fleeing southbound toward 11th Avenue. Police immediately responded and continue searching for the suspect, however, he is believed to have fled campus.

The suspect is described as a skinny black male, standing 6’2” with dreadlocks and red on his shirt. It is reported he wore something to cover or conceal his face.

Police continue to investigate and have learned this morning from Columbus Police that two similar armed robberies occurred early this morning (approximately 1:45 a.m.) in the off-campus area of 13th Ave. and Pearl Alley. CPD detained a potential suspect momentarily related to the off-campus crimes prior to releasing him. It is unknown at this time if the incidents are related but anyone with information is encouraged to call OSU PD (614-292-2121) or CPD (614-645-4545). Police continue to investigate.
