The following crime occurred in:
Off Campus

On 8/11/18, at approximately 9:43 p.m., an off-campus shooting at 1280 Summit Street led to multiple injuries. The Columbus Division of Police responded and is actively investigating. According to law enforcement, the victims are not associated with The Ohio State University.

We are sharing the following Columbus Police incident summary on behalf of CPD:

On Saturday August 11th, 2018 at approximately 9:43 pm, officers were dispatched to Weinland Park located at 1280 Summit St. on a call of a shooting.  Upon arrival, officers located one (1) victim, a five (5) year old girl, who was suffering from a gunshot wound to her leg.  She was transported to Children's Hospital in stable condition.  As officers were securing the crime scene they were contacted by the medical staff at The Ohio State University Hospital who advised of three (3) additional gunshot victims who arrived in cars to their emergency room. Detectives conducted interviews with the victims… Although there were an estimated 150-200 people attending a party at Weinland Park, officers were only able to identify three (3) people willing to provide a witness statement. Please note there were a total of four (4) victims as a result of this shooting. Victims are never at fault when crimes occur. We remind you to increase your overall safety by being cautious and looking out for one another; being aware of your surroundings and looking assertive; walking with a trusted friend or co-worker, when possible; if a situation makes you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, choose an alternative. Utilize the university’s transportation services, when possible.
